WRM and IGF: Gender Side Event Session at the BMZ High-Level Forum

The Intergovernmental Forum on Mining, Minerals, Metals and Sustainable Development (IGF) and Women’s Rights and Mining jointly organized the side event session with the theme “Breaking Ground – Exploring the Gendered Impact of the Energy Transition on Mining Communities” in the context of the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) “High-Level Forum on Mineral Supply Chains – Responsible Mining for the Just Transition” at the GIZ Representation in Berlin on 31 May 2023. The event aimed to provide a better understanding of the potential opportunities and challenges for women’s economic empowerment and livelihoods, community resilience, and mitigating potential negative impacts on marginalized groups living in proximity to mineral extraction.
